AMD CPUs are no longer in the same league as Intel performance/power wise for PC/Server.

HPC workloads are totally different, and Titan's FLOPs are mostly from Nvidia Telsa K20 GPUs. Even for top500 machines, AMD CPUs count only about 12%, while Intel CPUs occupy 70%+. Cray has a very long development history with AMD.
