我的观点是，for Chinese medical graduates, like medical graduates from many other contries such as India and the UK, it is perfectly legitimate to call themselves MDs. This may not be fair, but is legitimate and there is nothing wrong about it or to be ashamed of. As I said in the link, research trainging is a completely different thing. Most US MDs don't have much research training either; I have first hand experience with this since I always have MD students in my lab in the summer. Unless they are MD/PhD students or they really want to, they simply don't have time for research.
