Any way what I wanted to say is: the assumption that poor people will be better off after a nation becomes richer is not necessarily true. No matter how much the economic food chain grows, the situation at the bottom remains the same. SO I say no matter how much economic growth the country can register, without major structural change peasants will stay poor. Try to improve productivity won't work because it requries scale an average chinese farming family can never reach, due to the scarcity of land. Industrialisation is the only chance for them to move up notches on the food chain, if they have the required skill.
