I wear a car helmet. You read right. A plastic-coated Styrofoam job with a little buckle beneath the chin. It's the same one I originally bought for mountain biking. Put it on in a car and—presto—you've got a car helmet. And you're a fucking idiot. But before you jump to that conclusion, consider this: Wearing a bicycle helmet in a car is far more effective than wearing one on a bike.
What I'm saying is my decision is statistically based. Over an average life span with a typical 80 minutes of driving or 40 minutes of cycling per day, driving a car is four times as likely to take your life.
