I pay what the law requires me to pay. As a society, the tax code should be fair to everybody, but how to define "fair" is the issue here. The rich should pay more tax, to me that is totally fair. The question is how much more, again that is the question that people and the two parties differ. To me, when a society is becoming more and more polarized in income, it would suggest that something is wrong with the tax code, and necessary adjustment needs to be made.
