A controversial paper in Scientific Reports has been retracted after an editorial protest. The journal initially corrected the paper following accusations by a scientist at Johns Hopkins University that it plagiarized his work. The resulting exodus of Johns Hopkins researchers from the editorial board prompted another review, which has determined the paper “failed to give due credit to a previously published article by another research group, and should be retracted”.
