It has been suggested that lack of response may be related
to treatment with antimuscarinic agents that relax smooth
muscle, decreasing detrusor contractility and slowing the
rise in pressure. However,there is no published evidence that
antimuscarinic use might negatively influence nerve regeneration/growth,
and we observed no differences related to
antimuscarinic use. Of our eight patients, three never
received antimuscarinics, three received antimuscarinics
before but not after the procedure, and only two used
antimuscarinics both before and after the operation.
