First, the population of C students is much larger than the population of A students. So although we see more successful C students, it does not mean a given C student is more likely to succeed.
Second, it could be that C students are not smart enough to see all risks before taking an action. It could also be that they don’t have many good alternatives other than taking risks. So a small portion of the C students may come out as extremely successful because they luck out in the gamble, while most of the C students fail badly. We need to compare the average (in what ever sense) of the two groups.
