the focus should be on "hot", above 149 F (65 C) or not. most likely all super hot liquids would do the same damage to esophagus, as WHO already warned uyears ago.
remember kramer's coffee injurey in seinfeld? american used to have super hot one served, 180 above (80), only afer complaint and lawsuits did it come down, which is also healthier.
and don't blame media only, this study itself is problematic, 10 year study in iran only focusing on hot tea drinkers, no wonder they came with this conclusion.
people, keep drinking tea all the way you like (maybe not puer or very old one), just let it cool down a bit.
