In order to cure, you first need to position your Gamma ray with the help of contrast agent such as those used in CT scan, which means you DO need to see it. All the imaging systmes we have do not provid molecular level accuracy. So, even you have a Gamma ray and even you CAN control its movement at molecular level, it simply can not operate because you don't know where to start and where to go at molecular level.
Second, being able to view submicron substances or even atoms such as using AFM does not mean you can do that in the operating room. All these special instruments like AFM need special environment like minimum vibration or vacuum.
