Just go ask those Nano-scientists about what they are doing. I guess nine out ten do not have a clear idea.

The current situation is even worse than the starting date of high temperature superconductor, people even don't have clear short term goals.

Some scientsts, including one or two nobel prize winners, (like that Chemistry guy in Texas), described a heaven to politicians. So, money is invested.

The heaven they described is that "if we could build materials atom by atom and control them", we would have blah, blah, and blah.

It is just like if we could solve the cancer problem totally, we would have blah, blah, and blah.

Don't misunderstand me. Nano research is necessary and needs investment. However, how to manage investment and achieve long term goal using relativly reasonable resource is not easy. Blind investment means after twenty years, everybody involved is out of business, like the current situation for research ib high temperature superconductor.
