I just took a quick look at the article. There is no evidence that gene microcephalin has anything to do with IQ. There is no argument this evolutionary variant offers any advantage over others. It's normal that a developmental gene affects adult morphology. It's normal different subgroups would take different forms of genotypes as evolution goes. The article only states a fact that one certain kind of selective evolution exists; it may or may not be related to brain development. I can tell you that is certainly not the only factor that affects brain evolution.
