In economics, one important premise is that people's price preferences are not uniform, meaning some people are willing to pay more, some less.
So there is no such a thing as "overpriced". If you price it higher, the number of people who feel the price is attractive will be lower, thus the demand will be lower, and vice versa.
The best strategy is to charge $2 for people who are willing to pay $2, and $.50 for people who are only willing to pay $.50. I think auction is a very effective tool for doing so.
