Liu is merely a student. If by making a public speech Liu has made her a public figure, I would not call her an average person.
As a BBS posters, you owe no appology to Xiao Yu regardless what you say about him. But if you are another public figure, you better base your comments on facts. As for merely suspecting that Xiao was commercially motivated, you do not owe him appology if if you are a celebrity.
