It is not a technical paper. But the general idea of refuting others is:
1) the whole thing is a mess. You did a bad research. all your results are nonsense
2) keep adding more independe variables. There are other factors which may explain your conclusion.
3) nothing is innocent. There are inconsistency in your paper, which always happens.
4) someone else somewhere said there is another study confronting your conclusion. One negative study is enough to kill you.
5) all thing is a big lie.
