I have been a loyal reader of the New York Times since I came to the US in 1990. I often use the Times as a benchmark of professional journalism to judge and criticize unsound reports in some Chinese media. However, I was shocked when I see a biased and inaccurate report in the Times ((Rule by Law: Seeking a Public Voice on China's 'Angry River', by Jim Yardley, December 26, 2005). Some unsound points have been corrected since I replied to Mr. Yardley’s questions by email on December 7, 2005, but my standpoint on this issue has been ignored or distorted by the final published report.
