SH is desirable? Unless the speed can be raised to 600-700km/hr, it would still take half a day to do a one-way travel whcih adds very little value for frequent business traveller, compared with current overnight travel.
I think the overnight train is extremely convenient. Why not make it an priority to make these trains bigger and improve the quality of travel experience by making it more comfortable and delightful. The interior layout and service of these trains have changed very little for 50 years, so there are lots of opportunities to improve efficiency and quality. They can also increase the number. There are 6(?) pairs of overnight trains. This number could certainly be larger without incurring significant operating cost.
