Different cultures value things in different ways. So "pride, dignity, honor" all have different contents. Why "no stealing" has to be core value of a society? It's an idea from the bible anyway. In animal world, being able to steal/rob is very important.

Keeping these useful items idle is very stupid. If I found $50 in street and if I know the cost of verifying who lost it is greater than $50, I would put it in my pocket without blinking eyes.
