Most of UofT faculty attained full professor rank in experimental science/engineering will be PI on several sizable CFI grant at scale of $1 Million or more. NSERC grant approval rate ranges from 40-80%.

His Canadian Research Chair title was recommended by the university, approval rate 100% for UofT. He is 1 in 1000 in Canada on that title, if you count tier II CRC, you see at least 2000 "chair" in about 30 research university in Canada.
