回答: Why does a convicted murderer, say someone committed 由 skipper3 于 2005-2-22, 19:17:29:
coz the culture considers it is a proper punishment for him/her.
laws are based on cultures. say in China, we consider execution of a murderer is fair coz in our culture we have "a life for a life". for people without Chinese culture background, they simplely just won't get it.
your "I would be against death penalty if keeping him alive, in jail or setting free, does not increase the cost of keeping my own life style." doesn't make any sense at all, coz a culture doesn't give a damn on your opinion.
personally, i am not against death penalty. Not because i think "a life for a life" is right, but because for some crimes it is the closest thing to be considered as fair to the victims (in my opinion).
