automatic rifle cannot use that kind of ammo, plus the reaction force is to big for subsequent fire to be any useful. That is why sniper rifle is manual. The reason for not using machine gun is that, once you start firing, you expose your own position, the next thing you know is that the artillery will come to you, you won't survive that. A Sniper fires a single shot, and stops, waits for the next chance. The enemy infantries cannot advance because they don't know where the sniper is. Just think about this, in the world, all military sniper rifles fire manually, you think all those experts who design/define sniper mission and equitment are idiots? Don't know what they do and you can simply watch a movie and you can find a better way? get real, unless you want to be fagus II.
