both of these are .22LR caliber, and they are not going to break your bank account. They are both easy to shoot.
I have a Smith & Wesson .22 revolver, but it's very expensive (around $1000), so I don't recommend.
.22LR is not good for self-defense. You need at least .38 caliber, and the ammo are expensive for target shooting.
Basically you can't have just one gun for target shooting and self-defense.
