I forwarded the link to the news at tampabay.com and asked him to look at the early clinical trial at Beaumont, which "does not look promising for a SCI patient" like him. "it never hurts for you to do a little more research before you make a final decision... If you have to spend out of your own pocket, I would suggest delaying the operation until it becomes clearer", that's all I could say at that time.
1) He had personally contacted Dr Xiao about the prospect of recovery. "He (Dr. Xiao) says he is confident to restore my bladder bowel function(s) but no guarantee for sexual function".
2) He asked Dr Xiao about contacts of other SCI patients treated by him but "he says we don't disclose it".
3) He did not seem aware of any complications or risks. "Dr. Xiao have(sic) not written anything in detail about the treatment."
4) He was "going to pay less than 20000 US Dollars to Dr. Xiao".
I'm a little surprised he actually made the trip to China. He made his decision, now let's hope for the best.
