it's very true china is now a capitalism at its worst stage, just like america and britain hundred(s) years ago. and no question workers' rights and welfare need improvement.
but we also need to realize the root of the problem is china has too many people, employer holds advantage over excessive labor supply.
we cna go back to socialism way and eliminate exploitation by capitalists, but majority people don't want that.
and the current economy crisis tells us welfare and social security reform msut be very careful and only through a gradual step-by-step way. human beings has one big weakness, once spoiled, we cna't go back to "eat bitterness" again.
the current foxconn tragedy is a legal problem, not needed to link it to union things. for example, security people freqently beating employees, violation of personel freedom... those already violated law. and somany cases of "suicide" in such short time span, any law enforecement agencies in a civilized world would ahve already looked into them.
china at now need economy development, need job creation, in one sentence:
welcome exploiting us, greedy and ruthless bosses!
