there're cases like you mentioned, but there're also plenty far from being accurate. i grew some plants in my backyard and found many times i got disappointed: the promised rains never come or just a few drops

it's one reason climate change skeptics like to use:

you can't even predict weather for the next week, and now you are talking decades, centuries
