Correct.
More damage with non pointed tip once it enters body. Some professionals modified the bullet tip coarser. Advantage for narrower magazine design too. Handgun usually is not employed on long distance target, therefore the drag from non pointed tip is negligible. Long range (some up to 1.5 km ) raffles use bullets with very sharp pointed tips.
