In some part of China, people call 带鱼 as 刀鱼. It seems to me the 长江刀鱼 in this post looks like the Japanese 秋刀鱼 in Chinese store. Is my understanding correct?
It also seems to me, Americans call evey fish Bass(sea bass, striped bass, big mouth bass, small mouth Bass...). What are the Chinese counterparts of these Basses? I can recognize rainbow trout, Salmon, Shark, fluke/flunder, Carp, and snapper. There are more fishes in the market, could somebody provide some informaiton?
It also seems to me Americans do not eat Croaks(黄花鱼). Why I can not find 鲫鱼 in Chinese grocery stores here?
