Persnally I loathed green house gas much more, which is almost certainly identified as the main cause of global climate change, w/ most of the victims are 3rd world peasants.

Or you might say, don't industrialize that much. I don't know which one is more vicious: letting the people work in factories or let them to cut the wood, or farm in grassland, or mine in the marginally productive mine, or starve. Remember most of the workers are farmers with sterile lands, and it's hard to have decent life without destroying their surroundings.
