The current PC market is kind of stalled, the profit margin is low, and the market is saturated. Mobil computing is the raising market, however, laptop, and netbook turn out is really a sensation. It is hard to catch new breed of users. iPad provides a different platform, that you don't have to be a computer user. The system administration overhead is low, and its app attracts people. Before iPad, no one dare to get into the tablet market, but after its success, and everyone rush into it.

Now, the most important thing for the iPad success is the jump in mobile computing demands. Now the network providers are rushing to give higher bandwidth, content providers pushing new thing out one after another. The best part of it is that, the 3G infrastructure is there already, and so is Wi-Fi hot spots. The entry point of is low, and doesn't require the huge investment in the late 90s where getting 3G license was about tens of billions. Finally the network providers see they can make money out of their early investment.

Pretty soon we will see paperless classroom, and iPad/tablet will earn its positions in education and entertainment. Of course, there will be new apps, and new domains.

It is not the iPad itself, but what it brings out. Get on the bandwagon of tablets, iOS or Android, and mobile applications, like hot spot cache, doesn't matter, learn those platform, and find your opportunities.
