However, if everybody's income doubled, the poor are still in the low 10%, and the income inequality remains. As a matter of fact, because the price of common goods are not determined by the poor, the living expense will go up faster than that the poor can handle. For example, we see recent the income of the poor indeed were lower than before and more and more people got laid off. However, the food price is actually going up steadily these years.
In the US, democracy, or government interference, has little effect in income equalization. The repulicans tend to let market do the job.
Democacy is not mere a vote.
