NEW YORK (AP) -- VanceInfo Technologies' second-quarter net income slipped due to higher expenses, the Beijing software developer said Tuesday, and shares slumped 27 percent on an outlook that left Wall Street's disappointed.

The company earned $7.1 million, or 16 cents per share, in the three months that ended June 30, down slightly from $7.2 million, or 17 cents per share, in the same period a year earlier.

Revenue grew 32 percent to $68.2 million from $51.8 million.

Adjusted earnings were 21 cents per share, missing Wall Street's expectations due to weaker than expected performance from the company's Japanese business and its newly acquired Lifewood business process outsourcing segment.

Analysts, on average, were expecting earnings of 23 cents per share on revenue of $67.6 million, according to a poll by FactSet.

The company booked $18 million in selling, general and administrative expenses, up from $12.3 million a year earlier.

VanceInfo expects third-quarter adjusted earnings between 19 cents and 21 cents per share and revenue between $69 million and $72 million. Analysts are predicting earnings of 25 cents per share on revenue of $73.1 million.

For the full year, the company expects adjusted earnings of 84 cents to 90 cents per share on revenue of at least $275 million. Analysts are expecting earnings of 96 cents per share on revenue of $278.3 million.

The company said its outlook for the year reflects "continued uncertainties in the wage inflation environment and the timing of certain government subsidies due to a change in application process."
