What works for 2g might not work for 3G or 3GS, and it also depends on version of iOS.

Plus the required engineering skill (not a very easy job for average people to replace it, though it looks easy)

So my recommendation is to find local store to have it replaced with reasonable fee. (NO, not Apple Store)
