克拉姆教授关于中国超声治疗技术的来函

尊敬的孙教授：

    在第二届国际超声治疗研讨会召开期间，我曾接受中国某家电视台记者的采访。
后来，我得知出现了这样的报道，说我认为重庆的HIFU设备比中国其它同类设备至少
领先3年。

    这不是事实，我没有说过这样的话！

    我说的是：中国的HIFU技术领先美国三至五年。

    我还说过：这三家中国公司中的任何一家在发展HIFU技术方面都比美国的任何
机构领先很多。在该电视台的报道中，没有提及我原话里三家公司中的另外两家。

    该报道暗示了我支持一家单位或公司超过了其它任何单位或公司，对此，我表
示遗憾，因为每个公司都有其各自的实力和长处。

    通过这封信，我希望能纠正对我的说法的误传，并希望这件事没有给你或你的
同事带来麻烦。你可以向任何人出示这封信。

Dear Professor Sun,

During the meeting of the 2nd International Symposium on Therapeutic Ultrasound
I was interviewed by some reporters from a Chinese Television station. I learned
later that it was reported that I said that the Chongqing HIFU device was more
than 3 years ahead of any other device in China.

This is not true, and I did not say that!

I said that CHINESE HIFU TECHNOLOGY is 3-5 years ahead of US HIFU technology.

I also said that each of 3 Chinese companies that are developing HIFU technology
in the PRC are much ahead of anything in the US. Two of the three companiese were
edited out of my quote.

It is unfortunate that it was implied that I supported any single unit or company
over any other unit or company because each of the companies and devices have
their own respective strengths and merits.

Via this letter, I wish to correct this misrepresentation of what I said, and
hope that this event did not cause your colleagues any difficulties. You may
show this letter to whomever you wish.
