First of all, SHA-1 is not even an encryption, it is a cryptographic hash function. It cannot be used to encrypt anything, it is used to ensure the information sent has not been altered. Second, as many people pointed out, Wang's result indicated finding a weakly collision SHA-1 requires 2^69 operation, faster than the original expectation 2^80, that by no means cracking SHA-1, which will make it possible to forge a message with the same digest. And the reports called that "新闻世界密码大厦轰然倒塌," and you called this had been okay? Nobody calls SHA-1 the most secure, for God sake it is a hash function for message digest, how can it be the most secure? it is only a weakly collision-free hash anyway... I mean these things goes on and on, the bottom line is, the reporter knows absoultly nothing about data encryption. Almost every word in the report is either purely BS or exaggerated in the cosmic scale.
