democracy is a decision making process. It's very good all citizens can be involved in such process. BUT, it requires everyone to be well informed to make such a decision. Are American public well informed about the consequence of pulling out from this war? Do people really understand how much they will lose if US pull out now? THEY DON'T!
So for making a decision on whether to continue this war, there is no functioning democracy, it's crap! So I say when a democracy is not functioning, people should choose dictatorship. If Bush does not have to care about the poll and he is given more power, he has a better chance to win this war and American people will be better off.
BTW, one might say American have free speech so people should be well informed and blah blah. That's not necessarily true. People don't recognize free flow of information is a very expensive process. For example, in marketing industry, corporations pay hundreds of thousand $ for each report just to learn what's going on at the market place.
Free speech only provides the fundation, it requires much more to keep everyone truely informed of what's really going on. You see after so much debate, no one here is even able to tell how many patients a chinese hospital treats each day. I am sure Chinese government won't have any problem with this kind of information.
