Subject Re: Chinese translation of

The issue is not the word "integrity" but the phrase "integrity of science"

"Integrity of science" means doing science in an honest, moral consistent manner. Not using misleading data, or misrepresenting information, or using partial facts.

So, "integrity of science" means #1

Dr Gleick,

Sorry to bother you again.

After I posted your answer to my question, some of the Chinese netters
didn;t agree. They THINK that the word "Integrity" you used here
actually means "soundness", not "honesty or #1 from the list below".
(Funny that they thin they themselves know English better than native
speakers). It would be greatly appreciated if you can confirm that it
is #1 not other two.

Thanks,

XXXXX

From Merriam-Webster online disctionary:

1 : firm adherence to a code of especially moral or artistic values :
incorruptibility
2 : an unimpaired condition : soundness
3 : the quality or state of being complete or undivided : completeness
