Why wouldn't those protestors take pic of dying humans in Africa? Why wouldn't those extreme environmentalists care the fate of someone suffering from disease and hunger in a dirty slum?
Sure, we need to take action if the number of a species decreases dramatically due to hunting. But otherwise, why would "how a seal dies" matter more than "how millions of humans are suffering"?
A pic of brutal killing of animals is effective to invoke sympathy and fulfill the purpose of a propaganda. But it's also a dangerous means since emotion may defeat rationality, and focus of attention may inhibit the view of a bigger picture.
Many of us who come to this forum may not feel any impact if seal hunting is totally forbidden. But there are many still who will. Addition of "humanity" to animal killing can be costly, and guess who pay the bill? We do eventually, thru more utilization of natural resource, raising even more protests :) ...
