I don't know how they performed the surgeries.the left side of one of the sacral nerve pairs was resected, if this was all they did and they did not dissect any other root, there is no dethering done here. If disect out all or any other root in order to identify the right root to resect, (this is very likely the scenario)detethering is absolutely a factor.
