The web2.0 is nothing but means the web is going from Client/Server model to Peer-to-Peer model, or in other words, from Elite model to Mass model. Just like music goes from classic to pop, dance from stage to street, TV from star actress to super girls, books from literature to cartoons, etc, etc.
It happens everyday in every area, not necessarily to be labeled as version 2. Some educated people have been saying and are saying that civilization or culture are degenerating, they actually worry about how to keep their respected elite positions.
It is easy to understand that when you are maintaining your enterprise server, well hackers are building their servers with LAMP. And when you are writing papers with Mach, well hackers are using Linux. You have to admit the change, and follow it, except for a few cases.
This trend is going faster because of Internet, it's good anyway. I am sure some people will claim to have web 3.0 soon. These elite can't invent web, but they still want to claim the ownership -- by labeling it with a version number, making it look like brand new as a new software release, since release 2.0 normally has a giant step over 1.0 in software industry. Funny, right? If they really have something brand new, they will use a new name immediately, never a new version.
