The piano concerto is by itself a musical piece, and should be critiqued as such. The Cantata could be a great work, but the concerto could be a substandard piece. That was what I referring to. The cantata and the concerto each has its own musical structures. There are borrowed themes, but there are significant numbers of new materials in the concerto.
